The Beautiful Game in Rocket City

7/16/2014

PictureAll RPYSC coaches are volunteers.
The world loves soccer. Reeths-Puffer loves soccer, too! The Reeths-Puffer Youth Soccer Club (RPYSC) has nearly 600 students who play. They range in age from four to 18 years.  The club operates by the hard work and dedication of over 100 volunteers, which includes coaches and administrators.

Ron Peel, RPYSC President, works to make soccer fun for everyone and provide a great atmosphere. The club also has a Director of Coaching position, held by Keith Knapp, the R-P Men's Varsity Soccer Coach. Keith's main objective is to educate the volunteer coaches in order to grow successful soccer players. The goal is to nurture these young players into successful JV and Varsity players for R-P.

At the younger levels like U6, U8 and U10, everyone gets equal play time and learns to love the game. At this level the competition is intramural. It's Rockets against Rockets. The volunteer coaches are encouraged to work together in friendly cooperation with a healthy level of competition.

The Select, Premier and Elite program is a higher level of competition. Currently Reeths-Puffer has over 100 players at this level including one Elite team. Coaches and players are working hard to achieve higher levels each year.

Rocket City boasts a beautiful soccer complex with several well groomed fields, a concession stand and lots of parking. Major updates were made to the grounds in the last two years.

"The biggest benefit of our facilities is the size.  We can host all of our teams in one place. We also have the capacity to host tournaments," said club president Ron Peel.

"Both of our kids have been in the soccer program from preschool on up," said one soccer dad. "I am always impressed by how well the program is organized and how great these volunteer coaches are with my kids. I can't wait to cheer my kid on when she takes the field as an RP varsity soccer player eight years from now!"

In Rocket City our goal is success for each and every student. The more opportunities our students have to participate, cooperate and play, the more likely it is they will succeed.
